As a bank employee, I deal with this stuff all the time. Though most of the time it is not the banks fault, it occasionally can be. You need to be persistent and show them records of why they are at fault. You best net is to go the branch that you normally do business at and talk to the branch manager. A rep will not give you the answer that you want. Just have your facts lined up. They don't want you to close your account, they will do whatever it takes to keep you. Banks refund money all the time.

Be calm, collected, and rational. Ask to speak with the manager and explain the situation. 95% of the time they will return the fees to you.

If you make this a habit, they will stop returning the fees. But if this is the first time this year, you shouldn't have a problem.

I have had that problem before and asked to talk to a supervisor. They were able to help me and refund my money. In my case the bank "paid" the same check twice (my mortgage payment) causing 6 checks after that to accrue overdraft fees.

Depends on how much they charged you, as it may take a lot of effort on your part to get them to admit they were wrong. Try writing or making an appointment with your branch manager and explain the situation to them.

You can report them to the Attorney General of your State as well as the Better Business Bureau.

The best thing to do would be to close your account and open one someplace else.

call them and speak with a representative. if that rep won't do it, ask to speak to the superior. just keep doing that until you get your money back. i do it all the time.
