"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."
-Teddy Roosevelt

In response to the first poster, cons obsess way too much regarding Democrat presidents too. It goes both ways. Anyway, I think one should obsess and be concerned about your leaders. In fact, I think people are way too complacent. Too much arguing and less action. We should always watch our leaders like hawks and make sure they are representing the people...the reason we put them in office in the first place, at least I hope that is why they are voting.

It's hard to not obsess about a disaster. Do you think that the Germans obsessed way too much about Hitler during the 30s and 40s?

I obsess about anyone who is getting the troops killed and is bringing up a lot of old Sh_t that I tried to deal with years ago! I also obsess about someone who is trying to destroy the Constitution!
When should I start obsessing, when we have a Caesar instead of a Representative Republic?

Considering he is singlehandedly destroying our global image? His role on the world stage is like a diplomat of sorts, his actions and views will make others think that it is representative of the views of America.
Americans abroad are constantly berated for politics they don't have control over or don't even agree with, I think it's more than acceptable that the president is put under scrutiny by his constituents.

I don't think that we are critical enough. We need to make major reforms and discard our 2 party system. It just isn't working. We need to also change our election process and get rid of the electoral college. It should be total votes, period.

Yes.
I think that the American people in general have lost respect for the position of President. Everyone wants to criticize but there is no way they can do his job.
