We can't say for sure it's the Bible at all. We know the people in it existed. There may be some innacuracies, or exaggerations, but it really depends on what you believe. You and I weren't there. The Bible and its origins and validity has been studied for many ages by scholars and theologians. Millions of people study it and would millions of people dismiss it as a work of fiction? The Bible was written by many people, not just one. It had many contributors. You can compare the accounts in the gospels and see some differences by the four authors, but the main events are the same.

No one can categorically say what book of fiction is the greatest of all time because a) there are so many brilliant works, and b) a person's impression of a book is subjective.

'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy. I know there are three books in that series, but it was originally written as one. The publisher didn't want to print a large book.
