I would have to say a few teams have surprised me this year-washington st, virginia tech(even though they were blasted last night by nc st.) and also butler. It will be a fun tourney this year with butler getting a possible 3 or 4 seed. Who wouldve thought that washington st. would be in a position to win the 10 or even get a 2 or 3 seed going into the tourney???

Noone is talking about the BAD surprises! How about LSU? They were supposed to be so very good, and now they are in the basement of the SEC West and need a miracle to make the tournament. I'm shocked at how badly they fell off this year.

As for a feel-good surprise, I gotta go with Butler. They've been shocking. A close second would have to be VAtech. Sweeping one of the favorites for the championship this year (UNC) is no small feat.

Louisville in the Big East was picked aounrd 8th or 9th and they're in 4th.

Virginia Tech in the ACC- also in 4th after being picked about 7th or 8th.

I think Indiana is a bit of a surprise. Sampson didn't get much time to recruit and they've hung in the top four in the Big Ten.

Washington State in the Pac-10 was not expected to do much and they've been ranked or close to ranked all year.

I would have to go with Duke. Who in the world (except UNC fans) would have thought they go on a 4 game losing streak and end up being 21-7 at this point in the season. And not being in the top 25 for the first time since the 90's.

I would have to go with Duke by being how suprisingly streaky they have been. I knew at the beginnig of the season they weren't going to be the Duke everyone is used to but I didn't expect theem to be this bad. For the most suprisng team as for playing well I would have to give my vote to Texas A&M they look tough and should go far into the tournament. I never expected them to do this well at the beginning of the season.

in response to everyone else:
k-state i agree with
texas a&m was picked second in the big 12 at the beginning of the year
air force was in the top 25 at the beginning of the year
wazzu is the answer, no one picked them to do anything
va tech is also something of a surprise
butler was picked 6th in the horizon, so they are a close second

Has to be Washington State, I don't think anyone picked them to do as well as they're doing, especially in the Pac-10

However, with Oregon and Arizona's recent slides, the Pac-10 really isn't as good as all the hype said. WSU is SOLID though.

In the Big 12 K-State is doing pretty good this year. They play KU tonight, and if they win it will get them into the Tourny. Texas AM is really good this year. They could beat anybody, and have a good chance of winning the Big 12 this year.

Air Force, still haven't seen them play and they are never talked about, but they are like number 14. Florida losing to vanderbilt was embarassing, even tho are still number 1, they have been disappointing to lose at all.
