Broadband refers to both cable and DSL. Wi-fi refers to a wireless broadband connection. Personally, I think cable is the fastest. I have used DSL before and the download time for cable is MUCH faster. The university where I work has wi-fi in some of the buildings and it can crawl depending on your connection speed.

You're not going to get much more Internet in your residence than 10 Mbps. Typical DSL and cable both offer up to about 6 Mbps. Wi-Fi, by definition, is 11 Mbps. "Broadband" is a generic term for all high speed technologies.
Figure out which gives you more bang for your buck: Cable or DSL, and go with that.

It all depends on the service. Usually Cable is the fastest, but usually shares bandwidth with everyone using the service. The best way to find out is to call around and see what speeds they offer. Also WIFI is usually the slowest. The actual definition of broadband is anything that is not dial up.

You'd want to stick with what you have. There is a limit to how much your card can take.
EX: Comcast, lets say, offers 30 MBPS internet speed (not true)
If your wireless adapter can only hold 11MBPS, it wont matter. You could have 30000 and hav an adapter than takes 11 and it will only go 11.
The only other way to go is a cable wired connection, which defeats the whole point of a laptop, unless its your only computer.

The Internet will never be as fast as your wireless network. Depending on your G network, you can get up to 108 Mbps (mega bits, not Bytes). Your Internet speeds will depend on area but will never be that fast. Most cable companys can get up to 12 Mbps and DSL may be similar. T1 lines are faster but used mainly for business - too expensive for home. Having a fast adapter won't make it your Internet faster.

I hear that by satellite, but I also hear that it is very expensive and is one of the most venerable for hackers.
