Hi, I'm currently 9 months pregnant (my due date was Feb. 12th) and I think I lost my mucus plug this past Friday Feb. 16th. Since then I've been cramping a little off and on and I've been bleeding a little off and on too, enuf where I need to wear a pad. I have a doctor's appointment early tomorrow morning. I'm feeling fine right now, there's no cramping and I'm wearing a pad just in case. At my last appointment, which was Feb. 12th (my due date), my doctor checked to see if I was dialated any, but turned out I wasn't dialated at all yet. My baby's heartbeat was excellent and he told me everything looked good. He told me to go ahead and just make an appointment for next week, which I did & it will be tomorrow mornin. I haven't bled at all since the first month that I became pregnant until now. Is it normal to bleed and cramp a little after losing your mucus plug (the stuff I discovered on my underwear Friday morning, was thick and mucus-like so I'm pretty sure it was my plug)?

As long as the baby is moving normally then I don't think it's a problem, but I'm not a doctor so you should talk to your doctor right away.

Your mucus plug doesn't necessarily come out all at once. I know mine didn't. It is preparing for labor, that's all. If your water hasn't broken...then you probably haven't passed the entire plug and what you are seeing is called "bloody show" and IS normal. If your Doc felt it wasn't....He/She would have sent you to labor and delivery to get checked out. You and your baby are and will be fine. If there are any changes in addition to this go straight to the labor and delivery unit at the hospital where you will be delivering. They can check you out and assure you that everything is normal. Or better still, that nothing is normal when you are pregnant. lol. Your body is not your own. There are many icky things and even scary ones, but its all part of the process, hon. Don't worry. You are ok. I'm sure of it.

A small amount of bleeding is normal. If it were me, I'd call the doctor's office and ask the nurse. They may be able to have you worked in today to check you. If they can't, I still wouldn't worry...just be ready to have that baby, because you are very close! Congratulations and good luck!

It's normal to have a little bit of blood accompany your mucous plug, but if you're having any bright red bleeding afterwards, you need to see your doctor to make sure everything is okay. Bright bleeding afterward could indicate placental eruption.

Well, first of all, you understand that contractions are in essence strong cramps. Right?

At any time, if you are nervous or concerned it is ALWAYS best to check with your doctor. Rather ask the questions and show up than have it be something that shouldn't be ignored. ALWAYS.

Hmm. Well I would go to your birthing center and talk about this. Cramping is normal because youare in early labor. Why don't you be safe and go to the hospital now.

Yes you're ok and so is baby. They will probably strip your membranes tomorrow but bring this all up with your doc anyways. Good Luck, you'll be a mommy any day!!!

Bye bye, you're going to the doctor right now... get out from behind your computer, get in the car, and go...!

Normal sometimes, but not worth the risk, get in there!

I WOULD DEF CALL YOUR DOCTOR AND ASK JUST TO BE SURE AS I DID NOT BLEED WHEN I LOST MY PLUG. THERE WAS JUST BLOOD IN THE MUCUS MIX. CALL YOU DOCTOR. JUST LET HIM KNOW EVEN IF IT IS NO BIG DEAL.
