We live in an age where tech is increasingly important. You'll need to be able to read medical reports, and understand scientific evidence like DNA, deceptographology, etc. Take a few premed courses. Try to find something about handwriting (for questioned documents), organic chemistry, Abnormal psychology would help you prepare insanity defenses. Also try to get a knowledge of firearms and ballistics. "Bones" would be a good TV show to watch for ideas.
