I want to know if I can change from a Pentium III to a Pentium 4. Do I have to upload the data on the old one (documents, etc) to the new one if I still wish to continue use of that data?

First, the data is NOT stored on your processor. To change the processor you would need to find a P4 with the same socket as your P3 but I think that is not possible and even if you did it would probably be almost as much as buying a good used P4 computer. Not worth the time or the money. If you can find a P4 motherboard and chip at a site like 'starsurplus' you may be able to do the upgrade for a couple of hundreds bucks.

In your case you would retain the old hardrive from the P3 based computer and use it as the secondary or slave drive to the primary on your new P4

There are no mainstream consumer mainboards that support the P3 and P4 at the same time.

Hi. No. The data is stored on your hard drive.
