I have hated peanut butter for a long time now.....comes from being poor as a child and having to eat it WAAAY too many times....
Last time I bought peanut butter was probably 2 years ago, when my kids were still living at home

No, but in some cases it may be an economic choice. There are a lot of people on fixed incomes and/or food stamps who can't afford to do what it takes for a refund. Why doesn't the store give the refund and get reimbursed from the company? From what I've read, consumers are to mail the lid to the company. Not everyone keeps envelopes big enough for jar lids. So they would have to buy one. Then there's the trip to the post office to weigh the envelope and pay the postage. What kind of "refund" do they get? I'm sure that not all stores charge the same price for the same product.
In my opinion, either the company (Con Agra Foods) should allow the stores to take care of the "refunds" and reimburse them or make it worth the trouble to the consumers for the added expense of doing it "their" way.

Well, did you eat half the jar to attempt to make yourself sick? They already had warned of a risk eating the peanut butter, so the fact that you risked eating it could mean that you trying to cause yourself harm. Or perhaps you just like to throw caution to the wind. Since, you are fine, then your jar is probably not contaminated:)

My friends family ate like ten jars of that, before it was recalled, his dad had painful stomach cramps, and my friend got severely bad gas for a month...
Hopefully, you don't get infected or infected bad enough for death. It probably depends on how lucky you are. But that is cheap and you should probably complain to get more peanut butter because that is ridiculous, that you can buy bad food and be expected to pay for more food to replace it. Thats like going to McDonald's and watching them drop your hamburger on the floor and saying eat this or buy another burger

Well obviously better safe than sorry isn't your creed. But hay if you already ate half the jar than I would say that it was not in anyway suicidal, but definatly cheap if money was the reason you didn't throw it away.

I think that a lot of people will do this, and then try to sue the companies.Any time there is a recall some one will try to take advantage of the situation and make a profit from a company.
