Its a weird looking, ugly bear with a sad face that is miserable as hell looking. My sister wants to change it from a girly pink (her former favourite colour while she was an innocent girly girl) to a new colour (to meet her new cowish, stab in the back, goth wannae personality), any ideas how this can be acheived? Remember, its not my bear, I hate the thing!

take into consideration the change in her clothing. The colors of the material might give you a clue. I use to be gothic. The colors varies on the mood of the individual. Basic colors: Black, Velvet, And a red (the color of blood). There is also, a greyish color that is not explainable in every day life for them. If you can and you have time try and see if there is any online pages for goth. I do not know what background you have, but it just might be a phase that she might be going through to. My phase was for 3 years and colors were all the same. Or a palish white skin color might do the trick. Did your sister dress in a attire for halloween (goth) that might be a clue for that bear.

It all depends what material it's made from and if it's machine washable. If it's a cotton bear and can be put in the wash, dylon should work. If it's not, your best bet will be a fabric paint. You can get them in what look like marker pens, which means you can colour different parts in different colours accurately, and it takes the dye without needing to be washed. Alternatively, food colouring will work quite well (but is pretty messy to apply).

I think it would be more sucessful to put that bear away in the loft and go and buy another one. If the fur is nylon, which is almost undoubtable is, it's virtually impossible to get it to take a colour, secondly the thing has to be submerged in dye, which will make extremely difficult to dry out again.

(I'm sensing a little hostility toward your sister and her bear, maybe you should be working on that instead.)
