It doesn't---at least not consistently. Homeopathic remedies are touted as being a wonderful alternative to traditional medicine. However, what they forget to mention is that traditional medicine is rigorously tested and carefully regulated by the FDA. Homeopathic medicines are considered "food" and therefore are not subject to this type of rigorous inspection.

In fact, you may buy a bottle of, say, ginseng pills. But, since there is no regulation, those pills may have no ginseng at all in them. The next bottle you buy (even if it's the same brand) may contain much more than it should. Since there is no regulation, there is no quality control. This unreliability, along with possible interactions with proven drugs, makes it a bad idea to go the homeopathic route.
