Well, I know on the PC game, my girl cheated on my guy. He saw, and his relationship level with her went down to -100. Afterwords, I was him and I clicked on the girl and (along with the other usual options) one option was "break up". I didn't dare click it, and now their getting back to loving eachother (with some work and after a couple of fights unfortunatelly). So do something so that they hate eachother and the one option should be "break up". P.S. This is just on the PC. It probably works the same for all the others, but I don't know.
