I prefer dell laptops and have 2 myself. 1 is over 5 years old and runs well. If you take care of a laptop, it will run for a long time. Get a good anti-spy-ware, anti-virus, and firewall application and run them.

There are some great dell coupons at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html for you.

Good Luck.

Here's my opinion on Dell. They're cheaper than those big branded ones (HP, Sony, Asus, etc.) and very reliable even though they're cheap unlike those like Acer or BenQ.

If you order them from the website, you get to pick which spec to go for. From processor, ram, hard disk and much more. Of course it is recommended to get the more than average to ensure long-term usage.

As for overheat or battery problem, that's environment problem and overusage. Battery problem will happen in any laptop because the battery are lithium-ion which will start degrading in performance after a year of use. Explode? That's due to Sony manufactured battery, not Dell.

And to add one fact, a company that does physical endurance test tested Dell, Sony, Nec, HP and a lot more laptop. The test involves pressure, water, free fall drop, dust, etc. Dell came top of the test with only 2 laptop having a bad sector out of 14 used for each test.

I would recommend Dell, I have worked with Dell Laptop and desktop and find them to be very good systems, and yes theyy do come with 2 much temporary p/grams which is only good for a period of time then you have to purchase a serial to keep them working.

Dell is great. You can pretty much customize anything. Their customer services is Amazing!!!! Dell only sucks when you get transferred over you an operator in India and they read off a script the entire time. They treat every problem the same way.

Overall their computers are awesome.

No complaints here, I have 2 of them on my desk, we also have over 1300 employees with 1 or 2 or more DELL computers...

Get the extended warranty, don't buy the cheapest one on the DELL website...

If you cover your butt with the warranty you're good for 3-4 years. You can also request a copy of the restor disk that does not have the extra software, or get a free upgrade to VISTA without the extra bloatware.

Desktops- not bad.
Laptops- CRAP

I work with 30+ computers in a a packaging company. They were all Dell when I started a year ago... There's only about 12 left, and the most common problem- bad motherboard.

My suggestion: HP

in the journey that your puzzling is lifeless it quite is to not puzzling to restoration. If the workstation doesnt turn on then you definitely acquire a reasonable issue. it quite is a potential subject. the potential grant for laptops are equipped on a circuit thats integrated into the board. to restoration that new motherboard.....yet its not much less high priced. perfect element is shop up and get a clean one or dish out the money and get a clean board put in via Dell. the undertaking with Dell hardware areas is that its not person-friendly to locate. I often times can. Does lights even come on or is it not something? extra A refurbished 8500 motherboard base with guarantee is approximately $275 greenbacks. Its a 15day guarantee and could be shown that it replaced into put in professionally via a tech if some thing replaced into to pass incorrect with it. Motherboard on my own is around $199. seek for Inspiron 8500 motherboard on ebay. sturdy luck extra nicely if its have been given not existence then its quite the motherboard. Will that resolve the undertaking.....it could. in case you pass by using Dell then they could have the flexibility to aim it for issues and perhaps supply you with a guaranty on it. in case you pass by using a tech and that they order the areas and have no guarantee than you're taking of undertaking. (i propose people to handle manufacture for laptops). If it replaced into me i could pass forward take the possibility and get a clean board put in via DELL if it fits your funds.

only downside of dell is amount of crapware u get preinstalled, but they do that to lower prices, and the 10 minutes you spend doing uninstallation is worth the lower price i think

dells have a rep for being reliable, i been using for a long time and would agree with that

Personally, I would never touch a Dell. Poor design, overheating problems, cheap components and costly repairs.
Just my opinion.
