Even after that country was hit by the US embargo that seriously crippled the economy it manages to have a lower infant mortality rate than the USA.Cuba 6.22 per 1000 life births,United States 6.43.Other developed countries like Holland 4.96,Belgium 4,62 and Japan 3.24 score much better.
What are the reasons and how can the richest country in the world change this?

Because even though America is the richest country in the world,,the rulers do not care about the health of its citizens. As the big corporate insurance industry and the heath care industry profit,,thousands of average Americans (some with young kids) go uninsured.

I don't know just how true this is but there is a lot of unwed mother's in America who have no business bearing children that they can't afford to raise many of which who are abusing drugs. The daddy's of these children are nowhere to be found while these women rely on the government to give them a check which many use for the wrong reason. I don't think that they should be given money to continue living a sordid lifestyle especially money that comes out of hardworking American paychecks. Iniatially when a little help is needed, I can understand where a little help is needed, but not abused. It is so sad that these people don't take care of their kids who have to pay the price and deserve so much more! People have a chance in America unlike communist Cuba.

Csections for one... This country pushes pushes pushes csections. For every reason... Your baby is to big? You need a csection... You have twins? You need a csection... You want a csection? You get a csection!!

Its insane. Csection are MAJOR surgery, and is NOT natural... This causes alot of problems for babies!

I have had 2 csections now. I had twins the first time, so apparently I just qualified for one (I was tricked into this, if I knew then what I know now, I wouldnt have had one!) and then for my second son, I tried a vbac, but his heart rate was dropping with every contraction, and comes to find out, he had the cord around his neck twice, and a true knot in his cord!

Becuase of my 2nd sons csection, he was in the NICU for a week. They pumped his stomach the night after he was born because his oxygen was dropping and he didnt look to well. No one noticed but me, I pointed it out, and FINALLY a nurse listened to me. They brought up so much stuff from his stomach it was crazy. While doing that, they paralyzed his vocal cord temporarily. So then he had to be transferred to see what was going on there... Had an MRI and was in an oxygen tent for a week!

Anyways, all that was because of a csection. And now ive had two, so I am more then likley going to have to have all csection now, unless i find a doctor who would do one after 3, which is unlikley...

Doctors need to pay more attention to there patients and not worry about scheduling the birth of babies around there plans... plus csection are more money... very very convienent for them! (Inductions and csections cause death in babies)

Wow, I didn't know that, it is a shame that Communist Cuba has a lower infant mortatility rate than we do, I assume our standard of living is much higher though.

America has the Infant mortality rate of a third world country, and that is directly related to lack of healthcare. So if the reps really want to protect the sanctitiy of life, how about managing change where they HAVE authority, like in healthcare and mandated preventative healthcare, like vaccines.

Lack of prenatal care. Too many crack babies out there. It is a shame. More rehab.

Those are estimates. And do you really think Cuba is going to accurately report such data?

The republicans had six years to improve this on the platform of "family values". We know from the facts their "values" aren't about children and families.
