It could be football. Take two colleges, Michigan and Ohio State who each have capacity crowds of over 100,000 sold out in all home games. Take that times the number of home games, we are talking big numbers. Think of all the large, intermediate, and small colleges and most play 12 games during the season.
Largest single event could be the Super Bowl or the World Cup.

For the Oylmpic games as this section is about I'll say Athletics or maybe swimming in the Summer Olympics, In Winter, maybe Hockey or Skiing(downhill).
