I got a laptop that was whiped clean from Dell. The operating system was even removed. I installed windows XP on it and everything seemed ok, but sometimes it will operate at 100% and freeze on me. It is a Dell C 640, 30GB (80% free), manu date 2005. Is there anything that I can do stop this from happening

When it runs at 100%, use the Task Manager to see which process is consuming all of the CPU time. This will help you isolate which application is being a hog.
