Well, it depends on what your changing. I say start with your clothes. Wear things that make you feel good. I just started wearing jeans and I've never felt better!
Don't go change your friends unless you don't like them. True friends are very hard to come by and if you have them don't take them for granted.
And if you're in school, try to up your grades. We're going for positive changes, right? Instead of going out with friends, take a night or two to work on a project or study for a final.
Life comes at you fast (even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it). Take advantage of the time you have, and always be yourself.

You can change your life but you really have to do it one small thing at a time. You may not realize it, but every decision you make changes your life in some small way. So do it consciously, to have a positive impact.
Change what? To make a small beginning, it could be as simple as cancelling a magazine subscription and starting another one on a subject that is totally new to you. Others...
- Open your mind to other opinions. Reallly consider them. You don't have to start believing everything people tell you, but you might learn something.
- Open yourself up to new friendships...people who are different from your current friends.
- Learn, learn, learn. New skills, new knowledge, new facts. This will change who you are. The most successful people in life are lifelong learners.
- Think about what you care most about, what you're passionate about, and get more involved in that, move in that direction towards greater capability.
- When changing a behavior pattern, expect mistakes. Just analyze why your effort failed, and try something different...persist. Behavior change takes lots of reinforcement, lots of time.
Get the idea? It's probably not a good approach to think about changing "everything." That's intimidating and discouraging to think about. And some of who you are and your current life is probably very positive. But you can change a lot during a lifetime, if you take it one change at a time.
I think if you do this with the intent to be your best self, that will be positive for others. Is this helpful?

You most certianlly will hurt people if you change everything you can about your life. Thier is nothing you can do about that. But if you remian open and honest with people about why you are making such extreme changes (I'm sure you have some pretty big reasons) people might understand and not take it personally (unless of course it is personal, in that case lie your face off). The best way to change alot very quickly is first to move far away (called the geographic cure) and try things you've always wanted to but havent. Or better yet try things you have been afriad to try whether you have wanted to try them or not.

I'd say start with what the greats have to say. Einstein, Plato Socrates, Newton, Buddha, Jesus, Horace, Gandhi. Just take some time and pursue truth and I guarantee that you'll at least find yourself on a path to what you're here for. Nowadays I look to everyone and everything as my teachers. Above all know that we don't find ourselves, we create ourselves!

I think the best way to make positive changes would be to begin with a psychologist(councellor). He or she will help you to figure out where to begin. It can be very helpful.
