He was found with two bags of ice (I don't know exactly how much ice) and a lortab on him. I don't know the law for the state of Alabama, he has been to rehab for this before and lived in a halfway house for a short time, but he doesn't have a criminal record, what kind of punishment is he looking at?

The lortab is the controlled substance, I'm guessing they found the ice once they had him in custody, resulting in the promoting contraband charges. The only reason I am asking, is because we share a child and our divorce is in its final stages. I was wanting to change my paperwork accordingly (if he's going to be in jail, there is no need to alternate weeks at Christmas or give him alternating tax years). He's not continuing to "pull me down", I'm very relieved that part of my life is over, as I chose not to do drugs and he continued to choose to partake. Since no one in his family wants to fill me in, I was just curious about what kind of consequences there will be.

I'm not saying your husband is guilty, but I want you to see it from the cops' point of view: every person they arrest for possession is holding it for somebody else, doesn't know how it got in their pocket/purse, or has some excuse for why they aren't guilty. The jails and prisons are full of innocent people. Just ask all the inmates. The cops don't listen because they've heard all the lies before. One oxycodone is not enough to be arrested for. If your husband is telling the truth the video should bear him out. If he is found innocent, or if the case is thrown out, then he should be able to get it removed from his record, as long as the rest of his record is clean. It may take the assistance of a good attorney to do this, but it can be done.

Man people make mistakes and if he is doing ice which is another form of crank but 2-3times strong and very damaging to ones family. If you still love him he will change I believe that this prison time will change him and your love will be a healing for both. Just remember him when he didn't do drugs, that could be the man that will come out after his drug withdraw in prison. Goodluck and I wish u a divine day. Please don't give up on love after 5.5 years

I cant believe the number of people who didn't understand your question.! No where do you state your want him back; you refer to him as your ex. and have added that you are in the process of divorcing him. You should be able to find out from the court what charges have been filed against him. He could be charged as a repeat offender and thus the possibility of jail time. Go ahead and file your papers accordingly. You are wise to have opted out of this marriage. You and child deserve better . Good luck and God bless.

It sounds like he needs to clean up his act!
Why do you care? Are you throwing your life away also? You left him for a reason. Why do you still want to be with him? He obviously isn't going to change his ways. If he tells you he has changed, yeah he is probably right, he has gotten worse. Leave him alone and move on in life. Why do you let him keep bringing you down?
Quit doing drugs!! They are bringing your life down and you are going nowhere fast!!

It is not so much the punishment he is looking at as it is the question of his fitness to be a parent. I am sure any judge would not award him any custody until such time as he has cleaned up his act for a period of time and proved himself trustworthy. I would proceed on that basis.

I do not know but I suspect that the Judge just might give him one more chance and send him to rehab. Anyway, it is really offensive that so many people told you that he is your ex and you should not be concerned. This is just more of the dumbing of America.
