I watch Alexander, Troy, Gladiator and so many other european epics and now 300 is coming out can these movies be based off a different culture. I would love to see an African Epic or a Middle Eastern Epic, or a Asian Epic, or a Native American epic. I guess i am going to have to make on my own epic mocie that focus on other cultures, instead of europe!

If an epic was made based on other cultures it would be made by people of European descent. So it would still be a European epic because there is no way they would get the cultural history right. Look at movies like the New World and that one Mel Gibson made about the Aztecs, They are full of cultural ignorance and stereotypes. They perpetuate the European value system. I say let them stick with European epics, don't want them spreading more ignorance.

yeah you do have a point, I feel like I'm in history class again. Yeah I never thought of it that way, but you are so right! I guess I'm with you, and I don't have nothing against the English, my husband's english, but it will be nice to see a different culture...

I would prefer if they made the charactors more interesting rather that remake Gladiator with different people.
