I'm constantly reevaluating my views. It's suicide of the mind and spirit to do otherwise. And how do we do that? We do it on the basis of information. So if I ask a question here and someone provides me with new and legitimate information that should rightly serve to alter my view, then I alter my view.

The alternative is to go through the rest of my life protecting and defending a lie. While there are lot of people who do exactly that, the consequences to those who do it are terrible. Lies have the effect of removing us from reality and making us ineffectual. They force us to live in a world of contradictions, and that leaves us frustrated, angry and dependant on more and more lies, in order to support the lies we already cling to.

That's not much of a life.

Well, I find many questioners ask questions that have no basis for their opinions, and can't back up their question! I would hope those who asked questions would base them on something other than ideologue rhetoric and do some research of their own before asking. For instance, many want things to happen that are unconstitutional! Either they don't know the Constitution or they don't care about it, which says volumes about them and their opinions!

And yes, I think those who feel the opposite usually answer the questions, though both sides do as well!

I think that if the majority of the answers go against their opinion, they may re-evaluate it, but I dont know if it would actually cause them to change positions on an issue. But if they were sitting on the fence, so to speak, it may push them over on one side or the other.

No.

The vast majority of questions in the politics forum have nothing to do with finding something out, or discussion. They're merely posted to gain backslaps. This is true for both "sides".

No. Most of the questions in here are leading questions and already asked in such a biased way that the primary purpose is to insult the other side.

No one in here will change their mind.

Of course they won't! People generally have their minds made up about a particular subject and, in most cases, it would take A LOT to change a person's mind!

No, not really, although some people are sincerely seeking other opinions, most want to make a point.

Nope. I think for myself and am not led by others opinions.
