You won't believe how simple the best technique is. The answer is similar to "just do it." What you do is pick out a very small task that represents a modest beginning, and you just do that one thing.

For example, maybe you need to reorganize the shed...a big job! If you think about doing that, it can discourage you...easy to put off...."too hard, man." Instead, just say, "I'm going to start by filling this one plastic bag with throw-away junk." Don't make a plan, just do that one thing.

What happens is, the activity of that small task builds a kind of momentum. You get into it, and the shed teaches you what you could do next, and it doesn't seem like a big deal. You think, "Hmmm, I need to do another bag in here..."

Unfortunately, I know of no prescription medication for procrasination! Good luck!

I know exactly how you feel. I feel so tired by the time the weekend comes, that all I want to do is just go numb in front of the telly. What I do is to get whatever I had planned to do for the weekend done on Saturday, so that I can relax the whole of Sunday. I know its easier said than done, but tricking urself into working on a Saturday beats the guilt trip u'll be putting urself through the next of the week.

As you're telling yourself how much you don't want to do something physically get up and do them. You'll not be able to deny the feeling you'll get out of your accomplishment. You'll get a smidgen of pride out of the deal too and eventually fall in love with this feeling.

Don't just promise yourself that you will do something, FORCE YOURSELF to do it.
