A genuine smile reaches the eyes. No one can fake a smile well enough for it to show in their eyes!

Listen carefully. This is scientifically true. Genuine smiles form tiny wrinkles on the outer corners of the eyes. Fake ones don't.

You can generally tell by the crinkling of the eyes. If the eyes are vacant or you can't see anything in them, then the smile is fake. You also tend to find a fake smile is very strained and the 'smiler' looks uncomfortable. A proper smile to a joy to behold!

Watch the eyes. A fake smile doesn't reach them but a genuine one 'lights them up' and makes them sparkle.

if someone smiles at you and it is a genuine smile, you will noticw that their eyes kind of smile at you aswell, you need to look at the facial expressions as a whole, someone who has a fake smile you will notice their eyes will be as they always are....sounds silly but its all in the eyes
