I Have Been Offered Cheap Holiday In Tunisia-Opinions Please

I am an American and 5+ years ago I did move out of country. I now live in Tunisia and I love it very much! I came here by myself and as for the language, many people speak English, but I was able to learn the local language very easily.
Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, it is the northernmost African country, and the smallest of the nations situated along the Atlas mountain range, bordering Algeria, to the west, and Libya to the south east.
The country is so full of history (has been under the rule of Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Berbers, Ottomans, Beys, and French; played a significant part in WWII, was the center of the ancient world with Carthage as the capitol, etc) and it has so many beautiful places to visit! It is unlike any other Arab country in that is has a lot of greenery. There are also many historical ruins in just about every part of the country you go to.
The mountain region is breathtaking! There are fantastic views and an the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old town in Switzerland. Absolutely gorgeous! The coast is marvelous. The Sea is clear and picturesque. The midland and south are terrific because they offer you the chance to peek into a forgotten society - one that holds fast to tradition. I have been all over Tunisia and have visited most cities and have loved everyone because they each have their own special charm.
The people are so warm and hospitable. They instantly welcome you as one of their own and treat you like family. Tunisia is also a very safe place. There are not many places in this world where a women can walk the streets alone in the middle of the night without fear. Yet I often take late night walks and have never had any problems and have never felt fearful. Tunisia on a whole is a very safe country. I have lived in Tunis and Monastir and have visited other parts of the country without any problems.

Tunisia is lovely and the people there are multi lingual and very friendly.
Of course you might get the odd Tunisian asking if they can buy you for a camel lol But they do that for a joke as they know Europeans keep saying that.
If you like sightseeing there are many historical places to visit and of course the famous location where Star Wars was filmed.
If you try and speak some Arabic, they will be really pleased that you tried to speak their language.
In all of North Africa, Tunisia is the prettiest and most modern country.
You will not be disappointed.
A must advice...do not drink tap water there, like some other countries, you might get sick.

i had a brilliant cheap holiday there! A friend and I went for a week and stayed in the north. The weather was nice and hot and our hotel was fine... nothing amazing, but acceptable for a cheap holiday. We took a two day excursion which was a coach trip into the Sahara dessert camel riding, up into the mountains, to an area where parts of star wars were filmed and to a coliseum all for £60!! so its nice and cheap. Dont drink the local water or eat salad or veg thats been washed in the water.. only eat cooked foods and you'll be fine! Also.. on the third day of our stay at our hotel we realised how many prostitutes operated in the lobby of our hotel lol.. but if you're not much of a prude.. you'll be fine!

Some friends of mine recently returned from a Tunisian holiday. They said they had a very hostile reaction from the Tunisian people, because of the gulf conflict etc. OK in the hotel but unpleasant outside.
