I think it's become more difficult to operate a business ever since Enron. The government has thrown so many checks and balances into the equation (i.e. Sarbannes Oxley), that you wind up spending more time validating every decision you made. You find yourself less of a decision maker and more of an order taker. We need to spend more time with our employees and customers, but find ourselves buried in more paperwork.
