I know I've asked several questions about being pregnant and it's not that I don't know about it or what to do but, I don't want to bother my doctor every time I have a question. So, I am 37 weeks pregnant and this Saturday, I walked alot. Well, Sunday my husband and I went to the grocery store and I couldn't walk thru it. I started getting some major cramps and/or muscle spasms, NOT IN MY STOMACH, so I know they weren't contractions. They are in between my butt area and my private area.. there just really uncomfortable and they have NOT stopped since Sunday afternoon. My mom says it's where I'm dilating. Some of them hurt and some don't. I go back to the doctor tomorrow morning. What are some of your all's opinions?

All the walking you did, probably helped the baby drop the rest of the way. The pain in your perineal area is from the baby's head putting pressure on everything. Try to rest some now, because the baby will be here soon.

Sweetheart.. call the doctor.. that is why we pay them soooo much money!! You sound like the baby is moving down and preparing for the big day!! Contractions can start in your legs and move up to your back and around to your tummy. They are all different. But this is common in your 1st pregnancy. The baby is dropping so to say. I bet you will be dialated some and have some good effacement also. Congrats on the little one and good luck.

Drink more milk - Muscle contraction occurs in response to electrical signals from nerves. Transmission of these signals is dependent on minerals such as calcium, sodium and magnesium, which surround and permeate muscle cells. Any abnormality in the flow of electrical signals to the muscles can cause a cramp. This may be due to imbalances in those minerals, as well as in certain hormones, body fluids and chemicals, or malfunctions in the nervous system itself.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. My pelvic floor (crotch area) hurt like shooting fire works every time I walked after 38 weeks.

I agree with your mom, but don't be afraid to ask your Dr. anything, you are not being bothersome, that's what they are there for!
