Race matters a lot more than we would like to admit. It's really sad, especially reading the answers on here from those that believe they should just be able to say anything they want and have it be okay with anyone, especially those who they've offended and have intended to offend. If people don't want others to get on them about the racist stuff they say, then they should not post it. This is to say they can dish it but not take it. Anyway, we ignore a lot of things and it does not make our country better than any other country. People probably laugh at how unorganized and how off we are as far as how different ethnic groups treat others. It's sad. I propose that we all just mind our own business if we want people to stay out of our business.

I never think that by ignoring racial differences in our society would solve the racial issues there. We cannot ignore racial problems at all. But we have to acknowledge and recognize it.
We have to know we are all living in the world contains of thousands of different race. We have to understand that we are not the only one who live in this planet. We basically share the whole world with so many other different races out there. We have to apprehend that we are not the center of the universe. Humans fundamentally are animals. So, the analogy is that if all those animals underwater - or in Africa or wherever they are - really can live altogether in peace and harmony, why human beings cannot while we are all animals as well?

Racial differences do exist, regarding physical features and some socioeconomic realities that are common among members of particular groups. Those can't be ignored. However, the problem lies when people comment on the prevalence of some problem within a certain culture without first assessing what factors need to be considered aside from race. Regardless of if someone wants to believe that a certain race is inherently violent, or whatever, socioeconomic factors are very real and when we start denying the importance of these, that exacerbates race relations.

'No' on the also part. Ignoring something doesn't make it go away.

But I do think that race matters. I am proud of my race and what we've achieved and my people's history. I know that this kind of thinking is trying to be crushed out but I still hold strong to my pride.

Race also matters in other situations like affirmative action and when it comes to all black colleges and TV stations. Yes, the racial game is still in full play.

I think that race plays a huge part in our country. And I think that by ignoring racial differences we are createing huge problems in the country.
We can hurt some feelings now, to creat a better future for all.
Or not admit any problems now, be blind to what is going on, and doom entire groups of people to failure because we did not have the guts to stand up for what is best.

Seems like it does, look, all the presidents we've had so far have been white.

By ignoring racial differences we contribute to globalization, and that dulls out previously established cultures. People should be proud of their heritage and not forget about it, but also be open to other cultures and cultural influences at the same time.

If only you hadn't added that second question. Your first question was a legitimate inquiry into what society perceives regarding racial issues. That second question, however, shows that you are on a mission to make a point regardless of what answers you receive to the first question. Sorry, but I don't think I want to play anymore.

No... the white ruling class is self centered to the extreme and will do nothing to helf the sufferring white classes of their own. Surely they will do even less for the 'racial' classes. In fact they will continue to reinforce things as they are so minority races need to take proactive measures and be heard.

Why shuld you ignore it? That' not the problem, you can't deny that people are different, but you should except and embrace the differences. We're all human after all.
