Its because Republican Men are not insecure. We are the strong, silent types. We do what has to be done, and don't ask for thanks.
Democratic men are not much different than Democratic women. They represent the pussification of manhood and chivalry.

Actually, most of the Republican men I've seen have done anything but "speak softly and carry a big stick". In fact, the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, Bill O'Reilly and Jerry Falwell automatically come to mind. Also, liberal men include George Clooney, Viggo Mortensen, Paul Newman, and Robert Redford. Conservative guys include the ones I first mentioned. Who REALLY looks like a geek?

Boy, you're a blast at office parties, arencha? Today's GOPsters are nowhere near Teddy Roosevelt's stature. Your male-cheerleader turned appointed President (with barely the popular vote in both instances) is one of the girliest chimps I've seen yet.
And where do you get your figures from? Did you know that many military personnel are giving Bush negative ratings on his handling of the war, too? Or does it bother you to consider reality, like most good GOPsters? The remaining 27% of you still backing the Sitcom President just need to find a cute little island somewhere, to live with him and leave the rest of us decent, hard-working Americans with brains alone.
Re: speaking softly and carrying a big stick? Well, Mark Foley is pretty soft-spoken, and depending on how cute the Congressional page is looking, it's either a big stick or something less subtle.....LMAO!
You're a real trooper for the Greedy Old Pedophiles!

using this proverb in english seems to have all started with Theodore Roosevelt. he's quoted as asserting 'I even have continuously been prepared on the West African proverb - communicate softly and carry a huge stick; you will bypass a great way.'

Sorry, Jessica, but Haggard and Foley (and Cunningham, Delay. et al) are the rule, not the exception, in the Republican Party.
When the basis of your political platform is asserting self-rightiousness and condemning all other schools of thought, then you better not have feet of clay.
Most Repugnicans are hippocrites. And note that thet spend so much time putting other people down, that they do not have time to come up with solutions, i.e. Iraq, Afghanistan, et al.

Love the way DICK cheney dodged the draft FIVE times during Vietnam, so other, braver men could serve and possibly die in his place.
The screw-ups that populate Yale cheerleader Bush's administration all carry a limp stick. Period.

Apparently Big Stick Diplomacy didn't work out too well. If it had, we wouldn't have had to switch to pre-emptive attacks, would we?
And what is it that republican women like Mary Matalin see in Democratic men like James Carville anyway?

I'm a democrat baby and I think you need a hard spanking, then a lesson on what multiple O's feel like delivered with care, touch, and intelligence, then a good old republican style jam and ran.

That's funny, I would have said the same about Republicans, and you have proved it. Republicans do not speak softly. They are the most outspoken, name calling, bashing extremists I have ever seen.
