Many republicans seem to believe that our troops are responsible for going to war. I served six years, and was never asked if I wanted to go to war or not.

If you criticize the Iraq War, its because you dont support GW and gang. You want our troops out of harms way, back home to keep us safe right here - not getting killed 'over there'.

Many personal friends of mine are extended beyond their EAOS and retirement for this, and I love them enough to know they are being mistreated.

So, am I not being supportive? That hurts..........

To answer Josh - us soldiers respect their leaders because they make rational decisions - not political ones - and they exhaust all options before putting us in harms way. Sending more only means killing more.

I support the military. I do not support this war. One thing has nothing to do with the other. I find it very odd that the very one so obsessed wtih this war, our commander in chief, has never seen one. I have to comment on the letter so eloquently written about the general. I will have to agree with everything you say on that one. Our troops are commanded by an idiot that will not admit when he is wrong. I cannot support a war based on a web of lies with a little power hungry tyrant in control of it. He is responsible for death and destruction. He has had a river of both American and Iraqi blood flowing. His war has lasted longer than World War 2 and has cost money that America could use in many other ways. This man needs to be impeached. Our troops need to come home.

criticizism of the war is not the same and does not fit in with not supporteing the troops. You and others can disagree with war, and still support those those that were sent by there nation on a mission, that maybe some also disagreed with. The only thing I see that is hurtful is how those over there now are told to do a job that military leaders and our commander and chief says we need more to help them, but they are left there and told "just do the best you can with what you have" Our congress is bringing shame and humiliation on our country and stressing out the ones there and the ones that may have to go. Tell me what you think, am I wrong? Is it 'we need 100 but we only have ten men? Do we need more equipment, and better transportation? Are we going on "impossible missions with the numbers we have? I truly do want your opnion, since you served you should know.

I am not sure if I understand your question. But Supporting the troops and supporting the war now and days are two different things. I support our troops because they joined our military to protect our people. I support them no matter if they are pro war or not...they are there to do what they are told and that is that. As far as the war, NO I do not support it as it has cost more lives then necessary and to be honest this war is just a case of greed.

Many soldiers are against the war but are serving their country. You support the troops, and pray they come out safe in this wrongful war. You cannot support the killing of the innocent ,iraq war. and that is why many people just support the troops.

I support our troops with all of my heart, but oppose the war in the same manner. Our troops have no say so in the matter. They are told where to go and what to do. That is why there are thousands upon thousands of soldiers speaking out against the war they are fighting. How silly to call the men and women who are fighting unpatriotic. But that is exactly the response they are getting from people once they get home. It is unpatriotic not to speak out against the unjust war we are fighting.

You are being supportive!

Rupubs that support the war missed Vietnam and are not in Iraq. They think a yellow magnet on their car is supporting the troops, but say nothing when the Commander in Chief cuts the VA Hospitals budget twice, while giving tax cuts to the rich! How can anyone think that is supporting the troops!

Who wanted to cut combat pay? The Republicans!

Who cut Veterans widow benefits in 1/2? The Republicans!

Who went after a country that had no terrorist and had nothing to do with 9/11? The Republicans!

Let me tell you what a Colonel, the most decorated person in Vietnam , said:

"You know what I finally figured out? People don't start wars. Countries don't start wars. It's governments that start wars. ******' governments. And we go along with it. Whenever you see a problem, social or economic or political, and think that government should do something about the problem, do a little homework and you'll probably find that government is the source of the problem. And war is just the epitome of government problem solving. So what if a majority thinks that this coming war is right. The majority is just something that government manufactures and manipulates to give the appearance of legitimacy to what government does.

"And as for those government bozos who say that those who question their plans and motives is unpatriotic and aiding the enemy, well, they can just kiss my ***."

I stared at the ground. Thirty years of fear, of doubt, of anger, of hurt, of rage, was coming out of him in a rush. It made me uncomfortable, but I couldn't move from that spot; I wanted him to continue. He seemed to sense this.

"You know what really galls me? How those that seem to yell loudest for war have never seen one. They've never seen a buddy disappear from the waist up after a shell hit, then see his legs stand there for a moment before falling over. They never saw a friend all psyched up about going home tomorrow after finishing his tour get hit in the belly with shrapnel, see his guts spill out, then watch him try to gather up his intestines lying in the dirt.

"They never saw what napalm does do a little girl's skin. They never saw a 19-year-old from Iowa screaming and writhing on the ground because a mine blew his legs off. They never saw a man take a bullet through the brain, then watch his body flop around on the ground for a minute or so because it doesn't realize he's dead. They never put pieces of someone into a bag, not knowing who it was until you read the tags, because there wasn't any face left to go along with the other parts. They haven't seen the **** I've seen, and they want to do it all over again. Those bastards!

"But what really makes me mad is how those who should know better seem to have forgotten. All those vets in Congress, POW's even, who know what I'm talking about, but will go along with the calls for war because it's politically expedient. Don't they remember? Do they really want another generation of kids to experience that ****? Have they gotten so accustomed to the trappings of power that people are just pawns, tools, mere things to be manipulated for their own ends? DO THEY KNOW WHAT THE **** THEY'RE DOING?

"But it doesn't matter. We'll let them do it anyway."

by using fact conflict supporters desire to attack the credibility of conflict fighters with the help of linking help for the conflict with help of the troops. In a matching way they seek for to attack the credibility of conflict fighters with the help of linking help for the conflict with patriotism. The conflict supporters can't tolerate the situation the place different voters exercising autonomous judgement and dare to oppose the conflict. It is not unamerican or unsupportive to be against the war. In my opinion, speaking out against the atrocities that are happening to our soldiers every day because they are fighting a war based on lies, is true patriotism. If you really support our soldiers, you know how important it is to get them home, and save our resources for something that actually has meaning and substance. Our soldiers are just doing their jobs, it is not their decision to go to war. We need to speak up and do something about this!
