Agree..........Any entanglement outside of marriage is an affair. Mental and physical rather go together.

I think this may depend on a few things. First whether your male or female and how long the affair has gone on
Females can pretend all they like that they can have sex and not get involved emotionally, however I disagree. Some girls give sex to get love. Where some guys can have sex and not nesessarily have feelings or want to get any.
Also I think that if the affair lasts a while then yes feelings will get involved..usually with the female!!

An affair can be emotional as well as sexual ....or I should say rather than. For instance, chatting online with the opposite sex and getting involved with them personally is considered an affair in my book. Any relationship with the opposite sex that takes time and energy away from your marriage can be considered an affair.

an affair can be in the mind, and sometimes more damaging than a physical affair if feelings are involved. Affairs can be emotional.

My wife divorced me for kissing and cuddling with another woman. The sort of thing that might even go on at any party (?). She said it was as bad as having a full blown affair with intercourse. So the definition seems to come down to the interpretation by the injured party/ies. However, like most things in life there aspect of intention and motivation might also define it for the protagonists.

I think it's an affair of a different type, but nonetheless damaging to a relationship. If the relationship is kept secret, regardless of what is going on, there is a betrayal of emotional intimacy and trust. Breaking physical or emotional intimacy can be equally painful, so it's hard to draw a line ...

Affairs are done mostly by men for excitement and because they can. They are too many willing women who will sleep with married men. That's what I have gotten from my male clients. For women, its more about an emotional connection because something is missing in their relationship. maybe its sex...who knows. women tend to become more emotionally attached. I even have a woman client who bought a book..."how to make him leave" you should see all the bullshit...that is in that book..its laughable..because you realize if you leave...you are stuck in the same rut...had you stayed in your relationship..only worse...your now with someone who is more dishonest than the other

I agree completely. If you spend time with someone of the opposite sex and talk to them more than your partner and tell them things that you should be talking to your partner about then yes, this is a form of cheating. If you hide that fact that you see another person for coffee etc and you know you have feelings for this person then this is wrong because you are knowingly putting yourself in their company. I would be very hurt if my other half suddenly started seeing another woman and telling her things only I should know or talking about our relationship with her.

Not really.
An affair in the mind is like a fantasy thing.
We are all free to think whatever we want.
A physical affair takes our thinking to a completely different level.
