Not really sure I understand the question..

Do you mean.. as opposed to not? Or do you mean (and i hesitate to guess this) that you're asking a trick question aimed at a funny response?

If so.. here's mine.

If you're drinking alcohol through a straw.. you're getting more drunk because.. (drum roll) you're drinking more alcohol...

Tada!

Or... in the case you mean the wive's tale about getting drunk faster by sipping alcohol through a straw..

No, it's a myth. Oxygen has nothing to do with processing alcohol like the poster above me tries to rationalize ;)

At the end of the day you're still taking in as much alcohol per volume (BAC) if you drink through a straw, through a shoe or even from the bellybutton of the table dancer.

I tried this for a couple of months when I was 17. It doesn't strictly work but it APPEARS to for a couple of reasons: 1. One drinks faster. 2. The relatively small amount that is drunk does not overwhelm the stomach. When too much alcohol is imbibed the stomach reacts to stop the alcohol being absorbed so quickly. Drinking through a straw seems to bypass this.
When one is more used to alcohol this no longer works......shame. However, there is always an exception to the rule.

You don't. It's an old urban myth like the ones about getting drunk when you go into fresh air or by mixing your drinks. You get drunk by imbibing sufficient alcohol, of any sort, to addle your brain. If you got drunker quicker by sucking it through a straw we could all save some money if we did it. Another myth is that you get drunk slower by diluting your drinks. Wrong. The same amount of alcohol is in the drink whether you add coke or lemonade or water.

Okay. Often what they mean by drinking with a straw is... you have a bottle of your whatever it is that is alcoholic. you have one of those bendy straws. you put that in the bottle, with the short half of the straw sticking out. you then drink from the bottle, holding the straw loosely so it doesnt move around. you are able to drink it without stopping to take a breath. i mean, it gets you intoxicated faster because it goes in faster.

Because when your drinking it through the straw, you're not consuming any oxygen, (if you drink with your mouth and not a straw, you will capture air within each mouthful).
Since oxygen helps keep your body organs functioning, as well as providing blood to your brain and other organs, reducing the oxygen count will increase the effects of any toxins within your bloodstream, in this case alcohol.

in theory yes, because air increases the potency of the liquid, but in reality, probably not
