Why should baseball continue to accommodate him? Yes, he WAS the greatest pitcher of his generation but either play or get off the pot!! What's your thoughts on this subject???

I'm totally sick of it. I can certainly understand why teams put up with it, as he is still a solid pitcher, but it sets a dangerous precedent. Imagine if next year Carlos Zambrano decides to take some extra time off, so he announces that he won't sign until June. Not going to happen, but the situation could degenerate into that.

I am not a big Clemens fan and I like the rest of you am somewhat tired of his constant presence in the news. I hope he goes to the Yankees, simply because they won't allow him the freedom of coming and going when he pleases like the Astros did. But on the other hand, you also have to consider that he was the best pitcher of this generation, and the last three years he has given up a combined 170 runs in 539 innings, which is a 2.83 era, so he could still help a team, and as long as teams think he can help them get over the top he will stay in the spotlight. The media will continue to focus on it, and it doesn't help that the Yankees are involved, keeping it in the news.

Yes im sick of it, Roger Clemens is OVER RATED! he doesnt win games against another #1 pitcher, EVER! He has been known to fizzle under pressure, look how long it took him to finally get his 300th win..he's egotistical, he wants everyone to BEG him to comeback, lets say he pitches in New York, he wont be able to have such a low E.R.A against American League Lineups, AKA Randy Johnson, he needs to stick to the NL if he does come back, but i just wish he would go away....

I really wish he would retire. It's a distraction to baseball waiting for his hignesses decision. 16-20 million for 4 months work is frigging outrageous. As an avid Yankee fan I hope the Yankees pass on Roger. It can only hurt the karma of the team.

I provide this question a convincing 'confident'! That assertion grow to be ridiculous over the weekend. Clemens is a Yankee! driving in on his white horse to maintain the day! huge FREAKING DEAL! If his activity remains as stable as his ego, he may be waiting to get the Yanks a wild card berth. i'm hoping the Rocket crashes and burns and takes the Bronx Bombers with him!!!

I am surely sick of Roger. Although his stats are awesome I can't get the picture of him getting himself tossed from that playoff game with the Red Sox or him headhunting Mike Piazza and then throwing the bat at him later on out of my mind. Roger sure likes to bring attention to himself and not always in flattering ways. I think it would work out best if everyone ignored him. Maybe then he would come back to earth to join the rest of us!

Roger Clemens was not the greatest pitcher of his generation. Pedro Martinez was.

yeah i agree with you he was a great pitcher in his day, but he's getting old and i know he's had a very low era for the past few years but that's probably because he dont have to face the extra hitter in the line up.

We all just just ignore him. He's dragged this out for this long knowing he would never play to being with.

If he wants that much attention he should go stand in front of a mirror.

As much as I like the guy, I tend to agree with you. I beleive he jacks around just to get as much money as he can.How can he need more money for crying out loud!!!He still can pitch, ther is little doubt about his capabilities. So, as you say, either pitch or retire.
