My x-employer is mad because I am 6 months collecting unemployment. How much is it costing her? I am looking for a job, I worked for her for 20 years too so shame on her. How much is it really costing her for me to collect from the state?

She has to pay into an unemployment fund up to a certain amount then no more. When you collect unemployment, then you delete that fund and she has to replish it. It's your right and its legal, so unless you are abusing it by not search

Former employers do need to pay in to the fund on a per person basis for those who are drawing. I believe the unemployment laws are set by individual states. So it how much she has to pay in and for how long, probably depends on where you live. As long as you are collecting legally under your system, that's her problem and not yours. Maybe it would have cost her less just to keep you employed!!!

She has to pay unemployment into a fund whether anyone is collecting it or not; thats what the money is put there for; it is not costing her anything out of pocket...its the law for her to pay into this fund
