How many False advertisements do we see each day?

I'm writing a paper on how is it the media or the consumers that put so much emphasis on false advertisements.I need Help!!!

Diet pills on tv are mostly fiber sold in a bottle, and many people are fooled by them. It's a billion dollar a year business. If they worked, wouldn't obesity be cured by now ?
