In the early 1900's, USC sports teams were known as the Fighting Methodists. However, during a track meet against powerhouse Stanford the outmatched USC team made a valiant effort and nearly won. A writer for the local paper said that USC fought "like Trojans" in attempting to overcome mighty Stanford. The name stuck and was eventually adopted by administrators.

I should probably post this as a seperate question. But does anyone else know what that Buckeye mascot looks like? Huh? Huh? Tall skinny kid with a giant round head with a smaller, flesh colored circle in the middle with a mouth? OMg. Suckeyes indeed.

That would happen to be their mascot. If anyone here is a fool, it's you.

They've won several NCs, produced several Heisman trophy winners. That's just in the past few years, they've done it throughout their history..

USC is one hell of a football college, hate them or not, you have to respect them.

They just call themsevles the Trojans. The people who founded the college might have made the school mascot that.
