Practice gives members of a team a sense of where everyone will be on the floor at a given time as well as a sense of how their teammates move around the court during the game. As far as practice making someone a better player, it does only if you "stretch" your skills during practice and don't "fool around" all the time - which is why coaches incorporate skill drills into practice time.

Practicing not only helps you get better, but also your teammates. As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect. This goes for anyone, from the star to the 12th man. Practice will help your teammates get better.

Of course it does, and it makes you all better as a team if you practice together.
