I would have been nice but, they died young and lived a hard life. We created an easier way of life that I am not willing to give up.

I believe that we should have learn more from the native americans because this was their land.Native americans had much respect for their land, people, and traditions. Now days people really dont value their land and their culture because of todays society. Native americans lost out on so much because of the white settlers which i dont think was fair.I mean what if they did that to other people and took over.We owe much respect to the native americans because this was their land to begin with in which todays society forgets that.We say this is America but what is america. If this is anybodys land this is definitely the native americans land.

Native AMericans lived with the land because:
1) THey had not developed to be as technologically advanced as the Europeans. Unless you want a return to that level of tech, then no, nothing to learn.
2) This "live with the land" stuff is called animism. It is the belief that everying--animals, plants, objects, places, and people--have souls. Many (most?) of the Native Americans believed in animism. Thus, unless you want to convert, no again.
Really, the whole "live with the land" thing is part of the racist "Noble Savage" idea.

It would have been impossible to learn more from Native people because settlers were to busy trying to figure out how to get one over on Natives. They didn't want to learn from Natives they wanted to wipe them out. When they realized they couldn't do that they tried to assimilate them into Native culture by kidnapping their children and forcing them to attend White Christian boarding schools.
Yeah, they should have learned more and they still should. Still today Native people have knowledge that could greatly benefit the dominant culture if only some would stop and listen.

Of Course we should. Personally I think their way of life back then was very respectable. They shot animals for food, not meat. They didn't mistreat animals. They didn't litter the land. They respected what "their" Divine Being or Beings gave them. The world would be a better place if we applied some of those principles.

our ancestors should have treated the over 500 Nations with the same respect as if they were a foreign government rather than taking whatever they wanted because of better technology. however, the real problem along with what others have stated was the difference of " ownership and control " because even our European Ancestors lived as hunter - gatherers before developing a " more civilized and higher technology, " which in reality started a different society and culture.

Yes. They believed (I think) that we are tenders of the land not owners since the land remains long after we die.
Thats why we are killing out planet because we are so arrogant to beleive we have no responsibility to our world.

Yes, of course. Then again, people who moved to america, were the kind of people that wanted all for them selves, fast and did things their way. Some resemblance for the american culture of today..

Yes... if we would have taken their views about respecting the land, and seeing animals as our brothers, then maybe we wouldnt have such a massive pollution problem, or we wouldnt slaughter animals pointlessly
