No. It is not. It all started because it is a superstition caused by the belief that when you break a mirror, you break your future because it is reflective of your life.

Don't lose your sleep over that. The only problem is that you will have to buy a new one every time you break one. The only bad luck there is that they are getting more expensive each year. And for the store it is good luck, for you have to go and buy a new mirror from them.

If you're worried about bad luck from breaking mirrors you were supposed to take the shards and throw them into a running stream. The river was thought to "wash" the bad luck away. Doesn't really help out the fish though =/.

Cheers,

Only if it broke because you were looking in it. Seriously - no, broken mirrors have nothing to do with luck or anything else (other than paying to have it replaced). If you like that kind of myth, however, may I suggest reading "the Picture of Dorian Gray", not a mirror but the same kind of sense of the occult.

It's one of the many superstitions that if you broke a mirror...you would get 7 years bad luck. I've broken mirrors but nothing happened. HELP HELP MY PC HAS GONE WRONG.

In Victorian times if a house maid broke a mirroir when she was cleaning or dusting it, she would have to pay for it and this would take her about 7 years on a house maids pay! So hence, the 7 years bad luck!

Well, here in our country, we think that breaking a mirror brings 7 years of bad luck and if an unmarried girl watches herself in a broken mirror, she will surely not marry in 9 years from that moment on:) Of course, it`s all just stupid stories:)I do not believe in such stuff.

No, the superstition came from medieval times when mirrors were made from polished silver. Back then it took about seven years to make one, thus the seven years bad luck.
