they generally wake up and scream for a reason, they are hungry, they need their nappy changed, they lost their pacifier-dummy.
My babies are sleeping, sound asleep... well the 2yr old is slightly snoring, but the 6month old she just sleeps really well when she does and she cracks smiles when she is asleep.. she is beautiful and that is how she sleeps, like an angel.
Yes, sound asleep with no care in the world but sleep, they have everything the need and they dont need anything they just want to sleep and are doing that.. they dont have nightmares about the stresses of the next day.

I sleep exactly like my youngest daughter did when she was a baby. She slept for four hours then woke up for 2 hours, then went back to sleep. I hate it.. I feel like I'm up half the night.

very true, babies dont sleep very much, they get about about every 4 hours to eat! but i think the concept is once they do eventually get to sleep they sleep pretty good until they wake up again!

some do huh?...but, i've been around some that sleep 18 out of 24 hours a day...i think those are the ones they are talking about...

yes, just like people say, She/He eats like a bird. Suppose to mean a compliment. Actually, birds eats 3 times their weight.

I've often thought about that myself......babies are terrible sleepers (she says after being up at 2am.......and 4)
