Not all of them anyway. Most FEDERAL offices are closed. Some special offices and federal employees are still working in a "skeletal" staff in order to maintain coverage for emergencies and miscellaneous tasks.

Since you didn't ask.. are ALL government offices closed. the answer is .. SOME.

And if you don't believe me, make a few phone calls to the post office or schools and see if anybody other than the custodian picks up the telephone. :-)

Yes It is a paid federal holiday and all govorment employees even mail men get them off with pay.
