Good question. There is no absolute victory achievable in this brainless quagmire. No defined enemy, borders, capitol city to capture, or terms of surrender....it's all become a massive meat grinder that Bush cranks to benefit the war profiteers. The cost? Only a few thousand ordinary American lives.....

Bush and the GOP have created an unwinnable quagmire in Iraq and everyone with a brain knows it.

It's a civil war between Shiites and Sunnis. The Shiite militias and the government are deeply enmeshed. The Bush policy is only making the situation worse. The only solution is a political solution. The surge strategy is doomed to failure, because it is too little too late and the policy makers cannot even acknowledge reality. If you can't acknowledge reality, there is no way you can succeed.

These references to Germany are ridiculous, there is no comparison to WW2, Saddam Hussein was boxed in with no army and NO WMD'S, a helpless dictator who Ronald Reagan saluted and Donald Rumsfeld held hands with. Since George Bush never wants to leave Iraq, he should move there and help rebuild the infrastructure he destroyed.

"Why is each physique in an uproar approximately staying in Iraq for a hundred years?" -hundreds of yankee lives misplaced, and hundreds greater to come back. -Tens of hundreds of troops separated from their households. -Billions of greenbacks misplaced in a futile, pointless, unlawful conflict. -loss of appreciate and cooperation from something of the international. What do you communicate approximately victory, precisely? Peace interior the middle east? Dream on. they have been having wars with one yet another for hundreds of years, and that they for sure decide to maintain going. The terrorists got here from Afghanistan, no longer Iraq. Iraq grow to be thoroughly unrelated to 9/11, and we attacked in basic terms through fact congress grow to be fed lies via the Bush administration. we ought to consistently have by no ability been there, and we ought to consistently get out ASAP. in case you like the terrorists to "lose," then the concentration needs to be on looking Bin weighted down and not something. each thing else is in basic terms a waste of time, lives, and money.

No. If you leave you would've gotten all the oil. The goal to be accomplished is to suck Iraq dry and neutralize Iran. You suck Iraq dry by perpetuating a war among the different groups in Iraq while you suck it dry. Yes those goals are attainable and you are doing great.

the goals we set out to accomplish have been, though I don't agree with them, we wanted to bring democracy to Iraq and it's there now, and no terrorism won't win if we leave, the longer we stay there the more it wins, Iraquies in general hate us being there, if we leave then the bombing of american soldiers will stop, personally I think we are still there now just so bush can save face

The terrorists are winning NOW.
The terrorists are winning with every American tax dollar diverted from our own citizens to be poured into the black hole of the Iraq Occupation.
The terrorists are winning by splitting America.
The terrorists are winning by diverting resources and attention away from our own needs.
The terrorists are winning by the war costing America the respect from the entire world which has taken us over 200 years to earn.
The terrorists are winning by displaying to the entire world how our own "leaders" have betrayed us and the Constitution. If we cannot follow our own laws, we cannot "preach" to the rest of the world.
The terrorists are winning by showing to the entire world what hypocrites our "leaders" are. Preach "freedom and democracy" overseas and yet clamp down on political dissent here on our own soil.
The terrorists are winning.

If we leave before the Iraqi Army can protect its citizens there will be mass killings and terrorist will likely take over. Mass killings on the scale of those after we abandoned Vietnam. Who knows if this goal is attainable, but the surge is worth a shot when the other option is 100,000's dead. I think.

It's a "war" that can't be won as the "enemy" has no central location as they have in past wars. It's all about money and power. And to get more military bases built in the middle east...

Our goal in iraq right now is to help the iraqis be able to support themselves as a nation. We can leave as soon as they are able to support themselves, by helping them to build up police forces, stuff like that. The iraqis are used to being under the rule of a dictator, and we need to get them used to the new freedoms given to them by the new government.
