Of the three you mention, I'll take Led Zep. I just like them better and think they set a standard in the genre that has not been equaled since. There have been a lot of "wannabes," but no equals.

However, they are not my favorite hard rock band of that era. Mine is Ten Years After, who have been somewhat forgotten & perhaps very underrated. Most casual fans may only remember them from their stunning performance of "I'm Going Home," from the original Woodstock. But they had a lot of great songs & their lead guitarist Alvin Lee was & continues to be a rock guitar master who in my book ranks with the very best. And Lee has had a great solo career that's lasted far longer than did the band. I recommend the following CDs, the first 3 by the band, the final 2 from Lee's solo career:

A Space in Time
The Essential Ten Years After
Undead (a fabulous live album)
Alvin Lee the Anthology (2 CD set)
Alvin Lee in Tennessee (fairly recent, Lee's in his late 50s & this is a bit mellower & more controlled than the earlier stuff, but it still rocks. It's somwhat of an ode to the original "rockabilly" of the 1950s, cranked up a bit)

Out of those 3... it's Sabbath for me.

Why? Are you kidding?

They pioneered Metal and changed the music scene forever. They have been an influential band to many, and had numerous members pass through the Sabbath doors which are among the best in their craft...

Tony Iommi
Geezer Butler
Bill Ward
Vinny Appice
Ian Gillan
Cozy Powell
Bob Daisley
Eric Singer
Glenn Hughes
Ray Gillen
Ronnie James Dio
... oh, yah... OZZY!!!

Their collection of albums is arguably second to none. Long live Sabbath!!!

Horns!!!

Led Zeppelin, by far. Have you ever heard a bad Zeppelin song? I sure haven't. "The Rover" is badass, by the way.

Zeppelin, the least trailer-trash-ish. More of an art form.

Tough decision, but I'm going to go with Zep because I'm more familiar with them than the other two.
