i've read eragon and eldest and they r 2 of my favorite books. stargirl was good as well, alhough slightly funky. i've tried all those a-list, gossip girls type of stuff and i don't really like it. to give u an idea of what i like to read, i loved the uglies series and elsewhere was excellent. also, the secret life of bees was amazing. hope this helps. :) thanks for any and all suggestions.

Twilight/New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
Peeps by Scott Westerfeld
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (which is a totally amazing book)
A Great and Terrible Beauty/Rebel Angels by Libba Bray
It's more of a kid's book but: A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass
Also the abarat books by clive barker if you're up for a bit of weirdness.

Peeps and Last Days by Scott Westerfeld (also the Midnighters series)

Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer (first two in a series)

A Great and Terrible Beauty and Rebel Angels by Libba Bray (first two in a series)

Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz. The second in the series Masquerade will be out in a few months.

Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock (there's a sequel to that one coming out this year too)

And if you don't mind profanity, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

I'm not sure whether they've been mentioned or not but I have the same taste like you (it sounds like) and these are my favs:
~Anything else by Scott Westerfeld
~Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
~Anything by Charles DeLint
~Anything by Holly Black, especially Tithe
~Neil Gaiman isn't a teen author, but most of his books are appropriate and quite great
~ANything by Francesca Lia Block
~Maximum Ride by James Patterson
~A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
~Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
~Can't Get THere From Here by Todd Strasser
~Anything by Amelia Atwater Rhodes
~Anything by Lois Duncan
~The Barcode Tattoo
~Daughters of the Moon by Lynne Ewing
~Abarat by Clive Barker
~The Giver by Lois Lowry
~I Am THe Messenger by Marcus Zusack
~The Lost Years of Merlin by TA Barron
If I think of more, I'll edit this post, but for now here are the biggies. If we didn't have so much spam I'd show you to the book recommendations section of www.westerboard.com, but at the current time that would be quite like showing you to an advertisement site, seeing how many spammers we have. Sorry!

Most of the books that I mentioned are those that I know that fans of the Uglies trilogy and the other ones that you mentioned like. They aren't exactly on the bestseller list, but they're all great!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, the Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison, "Guitar Girl" and "Pretty Things" by Manning, "Vegan, Virgin, Valentine", "The Earth, My Butt, and other BIG Fat Round Things." "Shrimp", "Gingerbread", and "Pop Princess." This are just a few really good ones. Aso try the series that starts with "A Child Called IT." It's not really a teen book, but it's VERY good.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is pretty popular (a couple people here have already mentioned it) I'm reiterating the suggestion because it is just a totally remarkable book. It has spawned tons of web rings and "We Love Edward" clubs with teens. If you want a great book that's "hot" with teens, this would be my absolute top suggestion!

Read Eragon by Christopher Paloni. It is an awsome book, but skip the movie, it sucked.
