My husband and i are coming soon to be missionaries, and I was just wondering if there was anyone there who are also missionaries, or if you had any advice?

Sure, I love baking!
I'm glad you asked, it's such a misconception that christians are "religious." Being religous to me, means having a routine. I am religous about eating, and bathing. However, I am not religous about being a Christian because being a Christian means having a relationship with God. Who wants to have a relationship with someone who is just in it for routine? My mission to Japan isn't to cram "religion" down everyone's throats. I just have a passion for the place and want to show them what God has done in my life. If that means baking cookies with them, lets do it!

I am in Japan, and I was a student missionary about 16 years ago. I now go to the church that was in charge of the English school I was working at and I have a close relationship with the present missionaries. What would you like to know? Japanese culture? The Japanese receptiveness to the gospel? I've been through it all, and am still going through it since we are all missionaries in our own right. If you have any specific questions, feel free to email me.

Best wishes.

On behalf of the Japanese, you're really not wanted or needed here.

Most Japanese have been fortunate enought to avoid the idiocy of organized religion. Please leave them alone.

Missionaries who aren't religious? Wonderful!
I wonder what is your "mission" in Japan? Sharing cookie recipes?

You raise another interesting point:
"Christains" aren't members of an organized religion? Er, then what is Christianity?

Here, let me help:

(You might want to study up before coming over here to spread the good word; I won't always be around to explain everything for you.)

And you're Christian, but not religious? Uh, OK. Right.

Like any beautiful environment, enjoy your visit, but leave the place as you found it.
