The Kurds are the only group in Iraq that are not trying to kill the US troops.

This is sort of two questions rolled into one. I"ll focus on the main one.

Are the kurds worth saving from the arab invaders?

I would say that's a question left to the wisdom of our military leaders and commander-in-chief (president).

But from a personal stand-point I think we need to stop being the "world police" and focus on our own issues for awhile.

So I'd have to answer your question with a question: "Are our soldier's lives worth saving the people you don't know in a foreign country?"

Actually, you have to look at the government that the Kurds 'enjoy'. The whole region is run by one family, and it is run along the lines of the mafia. Corruption is rife and it is very much a one man one vote state and the president is the man with the one vote.

It is true the Kurds do not attack the coalition forces but that is because we leave them alone and do not interfere with their 'business'. Really, very much like we left Saddam Hussein alone during the 80's.

Man, the Kurds don't need saving! They've blockaded their borders from the rest of Iraq and don't even consider themselves Iraqi. They have their own flag and their economy is thriving, and they don't have terrorist attacks there every damn day. Not a single American has been killed in Kurdistan during the occupation and we don't have too many soldiers there. They want to declare independence from the rest of Iraq but the American government doesn't want that because Kurdistan is a "shining example" to the rest of Iraq, which is basically digesting itself as we speak.

The Kurds are a peace-loving people. What kind of question is that?

It's all about the oil. Kurdistan includes the oil-rich region of Kirkuk. Giving this region to them will anger the insurgency and cause even more unrest and violence.

Also, the Kurds want to claim a small piece of Turkey. While the region is pretty much nothing, Turkey will fight to keep them from having it. We will need Turkey as an ally if we do (which we probably will) go to war with Iran. Sticky sticky situation.

As for your last question, not a single American has died there.
