iguchi, dye, and buehrle wont be here in 08 and in 09, that's another story. he only trades and releases people b/c they cost barely any money. we are one of the richest ballclubs in te league and it will stay that way b/c we dont spend any. jd is awesome and the gooch always is well. that garcia trade was a ripoff seeing as we traded him to make room for mccarthy on the rotation. then we trade mccarthy to texas and we got the 2 players from philly who cant pitch like freddy. we could have at least got rowand back. will we be like the kansas city royals or what

This question is funny. Here is where you are wrong about Kenny Williams. The Sox are not even close to being one of the richest ballclubs in the league. They are not even close. Kenny has spent money very well. He got us a World Series winner in 05. He offered Buehrle a new three year contract last year. Mark turned it down. It was worth $14 million. Great money for a #2 pitcher, and this was last year. So the money was right where it needed to be. Dye and Iguchi are free agents next year. You can't say they won't be here. You have to wait and see. Have a little faith brother.
You can't tell me you think Garcia was the savior of this ballclub. Last year he won 5 games in September. Did you forget about the fact he stunk it up the other 5 months, where his era was over 5! He was not that good. In return you get young arms, yes, but the top 4 in the rotation let you have a weaker #5, but there is no guarantee that the #5 Ozzie picks won't be a star!
As for McCarthy - what did you see last year that made you feel he would be the next Santana? I saw a guy who could not pitch out of the pen, who could not get the big out, gave up way too many home runs, and had a big era, mostly due to a flat straight fast ball. So you trade a guy who showed us that he was not a star yet for a guy who is the #4 prospect in ALL of baseball. The #4 in all the minors for a guy who last year was just middle of the road. I will take that trade anyday! That's not saying the McCarthy won't be a great pitcher, but I trust the scouts and coaches enough to say that they all approved this trade. They must know something.
In the words of Ed Farmer - Get off the ledge. Give the season a chance to start before you play judge and jury of this years team. Garcia was a fat dope smoker, and McCarthy had average stuff. Neither were worth crying about.

Great Answer notlost73 Looks to be the best. I do have a bit too add.

Garcia (4.53 ERA; 5.05 before September). Is that really worth the money that he is getting paid. He is on the downside of his career. Wait until you see the ERA in that BandBox in Philly.

McCarthy (4.68 ERA and Wow did he get shelled in September). He has the tools but does he have the stomach.

For both of these guys we got a boatload of potential pitching talent as a low cost and don't forget the Gload deal. Cisco has potential as well. If 1 or 2 of these guys pan out we are in good shape. Also, pitching is great trade bait as the season progresses or next offseason. I don't think Kenny is done and that he has a plan. Complain all you want (and you shouldn't unless they tank this year and years to come) he did get us a Ring, and well that's all we ever prayed for isn't it.

Regarding Buehrle, Dye and Iguchi.

Buehrle was a fool for not signing on the line. Well possibly a fool. It was a great deal for a 4.99 ERA (God only knows how high it was over the last half of the season). If he doesn't turn it around this year and I hope he will, then it's time to let him move on period. If he does, then who knows. He didn't sign for a good deal. Kenny can't control that.

Dye...Career year last year...Will he repeat...Going to be 34 Next Year...Do you sign aging guys to long, expensive contracts. See what he does this year.

Iguchi..Same age as Dye and can Josh Fields become a second baseman.

I can't complain with not signing aging vets to long term and expensive deals.

How about Crede? I love having him but how long will his back last...The reason for the one-year deal.

Bottom line...You can't sit still and let your team get old and hope to compete over the long run. If Kenny were to sit on all of these guys you would end up with a high payroll of aging vets that can no longer perform at a high level and no pipeline of talent to backfill. AKA the post-Jordan Bulls.

So, if he doesn't make these types of moves/risks...You can guarantee being the Royals in 2-3 Years.

As a Royals fan/season ticket owner, I would like to say, White Trash Sox drool. You tools would be lucky to bring up half the talent that the Royals have in the last 5 years. Give us J. Dye back! He is the man. Your GM is a lunatic, and your fans beat up 73 year old first base coaches. Most classless organization in baseball, bar none.
