Always the simple question on this site..... ;)

The sixties were about challenging authority and boundaries; the space race was the geek version, the counterculture and rock music were the cool version.

The seventies were about "live fast, die young and leave a good looking corpse." John Belushi is a good poster child for the 1970s. See the film "Looking for Mr Goodbar" - excellent portrait of the 1970s.
