If you believe the Bible to be the infallible word of God, as I do, then you know the answer is "no." There will always be "...wars, and rumors of wars..." until the return of Christ.
If you don't accept the Bible as truth, then look at the past track record of our planet. NEVER has there been documented a SINGLE day of world peace.

I do not hold to the notion that we evolved from some lower life form. I believe that we were created perfect and from that point we have degenerated.
If one is to look at the history of man we find that it is filled with war and destruction. There have been pockets of relative peace where one super power told others be peaceful or die (Pox Romano) but for the most part humans are bellicose.
I feel that if we look to history and buy what scholars are saying about us working to evolutionary perfection it would seem that this "perfection" they speak of is a simple state of war. The only thing we as humans have perfected is how to kill each other more effectively. What we did with stones and sticks, we now do with nuclear weapons. We are very efficient and effective at killing others.
In the 1940's Hitler had to herd people into showers to gas them; in less then 50 years we are now able to turn an entire city into a gas chamber and kill all its inhabitants. That, to me, doesn't seem like evaluation but degradation and a breakdown of all that is good.
Will we ever have world peace? No it's not in man's nature, we can not deny our natural instincts.
The only peace in this world is achieved through war and man only understands force and power. Those who hold the power make the rules of the peace.

A world of Peace is inevitable. It has to happen.
Humankind has overcome so many things from history.
When there was racial distrust, now they are neighbours and even marriage partners
Country that share borders have been enemies, but now many are trade partners
People of different religions were strange and not to be trusted. But today, many interfaith groups have discussion meetings regularly
Most of the fear we have are from Extreme individuals(Osama), not nations (as we feared just 20 years ago in the Cold war)
Before, our fear wasn't about a building being bombed, but MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) from neuclear missles pointed at each other's cities.
We have come a long way, and the only thing to overcome is the Heart of Man. That is why God is important. Money will not change a heart for long. Helping fears and resentments to be erased will change a heart.

No, unless someone controls everything and even then they have to control by force. World peace is possible when there is no life on earth

Of course we can. We can even invade Mars and make peace there. It's only at our home, neighborhood and the country that we can't make peace.

Of course we can, if we are determined and concious of what we are doing, have good minds, prevent evil anytime at any place, provide help at the right time, and think that we are all united and one.
But you are asking it in the wrong place, I think.
