im a audi tech, when we do timing belts we replace the belt, tensioner, all pulleys that touch the belt, thermostat, acc belt, coolant, and the cam bolts (these are important to replace cause the are torqued to yield)

usually all the belts, and the waterpump. it's pricey, but worth it. The belt goes on that thing and the car is totalled. Do it. I had one, loved the car and was glad I got it done. My buddy had one and blew the belt on the highway. $5000 to fix it!!! ouch.

Water pump and definitely tensioner/pulley. This thing is famous for these failures.
