I'm doing a report for my American National Goverment class and I want to see how many people believe 9/11 was a cover up. Could you please explain why or why not?

No, its not a cover up, I hate it when people think that it is. Its really so stupid that I dont even think it can be debated. It would be pretty much impossiable for people to keep something like that a secret, not only that but no good came out of it for us.

If 9/11 was a cover up, what was it a cover up for? Perhaps it was such a successful cover up that what it covered up is still unknown. I am certain that there were many things planned for that day that did not succeed. The objective still appears to have been a concentrated attack on the sense of stability and safety that we, as Americans have always felt. The "success" of the terrorists is attributable more to the lack of expectation of such an attack occuring than anything else. I think it was a planned terrorist act, designed to do what it did, terrorize us. I have neither seen nor heard any credible conspiracy theory that makes any real sense. It all comes down to the big WHY. Why would anyone use such an extreme act as a cover? If you search the websites and scour the books and pamphlets, there is no solid answer to the why of any of the conspiracy theories.

It could be or not. The government is capable of doing anything especially when we're talking about the US government. It might've been a cover up, but for what? There are so many people who died there...innocent people, if that's something that the government is willing to risk and give up for something they think is for the greater good, then, sure, it is a cover up. But who'll ever know. To the people, it's an act of terrorism and it's possible, but that's the first thing that people do, blame it on whoever they think is the "enemy". So, I would say, yes, I think it might've been a cover up. And for what, exactly, did those innocent people die for?

That kind of accusation is absurd and unproductive to your own welfare! What kind of evidence do you need? It all happened--what would make someone believe that it didn't?

For those that want a report of what the 9/11 cover-up conspiracy theory is--see this link and others when you do a '9/11 cover-up, Google search.'

It's compelling to me, but I also know that those kind of people that construe these theories are usually the same Civil Libertarians that interfere with much better Intelligence gathering and security measures--such as wire tapping and legitimate ethnic profiling.

There definately were oversights and misstakes, but think of the trouble authorities get into if they don't have 'just the right evidence/just the right cause'. They also have millions of people the watch/billions of leads to follow...

9/11 was a cover up. Evidence stored in the World Trade Center Buildings that the Apollo moon landing was faked and aliens walk among us but are invisible had been found and was about to be made public. President Bush ordered their destruction by using Jewish fanatics disguised as Muslim terrorists so that he could plan his attack on Iraq for their oil and help he and his oil baron buddies make more money then god.

as one of the most evil acts ever done unto mankind by mankind...
it was not a cover up...
it was purely and simply borne out of misguided anger which festered and grew to evil proportions..
I do believe there are many things which individuals in Government office have sanctioned and then covered their tracks after perpetrating an act .. which has had catastrophic consequences for individuals..... assassinations... murders...any strange demise unaccounted for and unexpected.....
..... there was one such not long ago where the finger pointed at Russia... but the UK... USA... and many other countries all have their skeletons in the closet......
one day they will have to answer for their actions...
the Gods of all religions will hold those responsible completely accountable....

. there is a day of reckoning for everyone.... we are but a tiny fleck in the universe....
go out and look at the stars in the heavens tonight and ask yourself just one question...

what are you looking at???

9/11 was mass murder... no cover up...

I don't believe that it was a cover up, but it didn't happen for the reasons that became the Bush Administration's talking points. The truth is always a bit more simple.

Muslims don't hate freedom. They don't necessarily hate our decadent lifestyle (even if they don't agree with us it isn't reason enough to kill). In many Mideastern cultures land equals identity. You live on and inherit what was your father's and his father's before him. Most jihadists hate us because we support Isreal which is firmly seated on contested middle eastern soil. In the days following 9/11 it was easier to rattle sabers than it was to ask those politically difficult questions like, "why are we spending a ton of money and making enemies on the world stage by propping up an insignificant country with no resource or strategic value to America?"

A number of things have happended post 9/11 that weren't necessarily covered up by it but were definately not exposed to the light of day. The Bush Administration has been given the biggest political pass in our nation's history. Their rationale for everything has come to be, "if only you could see the intelligence we have, you'd agree with us and since you can't it's unpatriotic to question what wer'e doing. You're just going to have to trust us on that one."

Perhaps it would be beneficial for you to contrast the culture of WWII with what we have today. America was reluctant provoked into it by an attack on Pearl Harbor. FDR didn't give a tax break to the weathiest 2% of American's during war time (taxes actually went up). He didn't roll the dice with someone else's children. The benefit of the draft is that everyone from Elvis to famous athletes did their time in time for Uncle Sam - the elite ruling class was not exempt from the possibility that their children would make the ultimate sacrifice. Even those who did not serve gave up something. There were wide spread rations on everything from sugar to gasoline (today we show our support by slapping a bumper sticker on the back of our gas guzzling SUV's - consistent with our culture of consumption).

So, no. I don't think 9/11 in itself was a cover up nor was it covered up. BUT, it has been used as a convenient excuse to do whatever this administration pleases without oversight, checks or balances. The decendents of Warren G. Harding have waited almost 85 years (and 14 Presidents) to have their patriarch booted from the pinacle of what is widely considered to be the worst president in our nation's history. Teapot Dome, Iraq... Funny how it always seems to come back to oil...

A requirement for a hijacking is to actually be at the airport, there is no evidence from video surveillance tapes from multiple cameras at multiple locations to support the claim that the nineteen (19) alleged hijackers were at the airports on the morning of 9/11/2001.

I will keep ramming this point home until people wake to the facts.

You mean it was not really done by Muslim extremists, but by the US Government?
No, US government has no motive, and such a secret could never be kept. Just look at all the leaks coming out of DC!
(Osama, musing over the public's presumed reaction, told his associates, "They thought it was another coup attempt." That's another cool idea for the conspiracy theorists!")

Cover up for what? Bushes plan to make his self be hated and go into Iraq? I don't think that is what this wonderful government had in mind. No I don't think it is a cover up, conspiracy theorist, and worst of all the dumb *** Michael Moore, wants people to think it is a cover up, so people will pay attention to them and buy there stupid movies.
