Let me begin by saying that I believe spirits aren't out to get you, (generally speaking not you specifically), like the movies and media blah blah blah have forced us to expect such an outcome. The only reason we feel as though a spirit may harm us is because the entirity of that spirits exsistance is not comprhensible to our minds. Overall, humans need to see the factual proof right in front of them for our brains to understand something. Even when we say "I believe in ghosts." The fear of the 'unknown' is what gets at us. On the other hand perhaps being pelted with a chair by an invisible force is what the mind is craving, so much so that it creates an almost self-fulfiling fear.
ANYWAYS, after rambling like women do, if the spirit is trying to get your attention or whatever, yes, they may use an object to inflict physical harm, but I doubt that is what their intentions are.

If the ghost is strong enough yes it can. A relative of mine stayed at a house in the 70's where the ghost of a woman chucked plates at people that she didn't like =/.

ghosts can use objects if that is what they wish. most of the time they will cause the physical damage themselves that way it is personal. if there is a ghost around you what you need to do if you wish to make contact with it is you must try and talk to it mentally and verbaly. send thoughts of communicating peacefully. but do not be mean to the spirit or you will be sorry.

there is a whole lot of psychic phenomenon, if you feel there is a spirit with you. ask what it wants, perhaps if you listen you will hear what it is they are trying to say. do you feel threatened by it? Perhaps a good medium can help solve your issues. Sometimes they are lost and can't find their way to the light, if you tell it to go to the light that their family is waiting for them there they will move on. It is like they get stuck and can't move on.
